We have 8 GSD puppies in our "D litter" of 2008. These healthy, vibrant puppies will be ready for adoption by August 26th, 2008. We have black and tan, and solid blacks. Raven had her hips/elbows xrayed (twice to be sure) and they did not pass certification for breeding. Unfortunately, she has been removed from our breeding program. All puppies are: As these young dogs and their new owners begin the important steps of groundwork and obedience that will result in stable nerved, social and well trained adult dogs, you will both experience that remarkable and (sometimes frustrating) journey of communicating with another species. |

| Puppies are so cute and add a lot of joy to a family. They can also be extremely frustrating, time consuming and costly. Sometimes it is better to find an adult dog at a rescue than to begin the arduous task of raising a pup. Here are some of the questions that we ask of those interested in a pup from our kennel; -Why did you choose this breed? How well do you know the GSD breed? Have you previously owned a GSD? any other breed? Are there children in the home? other dogs? cats? Have you ever had to "get rid" of a dog? How did you go about this? What kind of formal or informal training would you be willing to do with this pup? do you have a fenced yard? will the pup/doglive in the house or outdoors? how will you socialize the pup?what do you think about crate training for puppies/dogs? |

We like to keep in touch with all of those who purchase puppies from our kennel. It benefits our kennel to gather information on the continued health of each dog. This helps us to determine strengths or deficits within our lines. Each year we send out a survey to track problems with ears, eyes, skin, joints, temperament, aggression (towards people or other dogs), sound sensitivities and allergies. Of course, we also need to gather information on all of the positive characteristics and traits that are emerging.

All puppies are sold on a non-breeding agreement. If you are a person who intends to use this dog for breeding, then at 2 years of age, when the dog has passed all of the health certifications for elbows, hips and eyes, and demonstrates a stable temperament we will lift the non-breeding agreement. All other puppies are expected to be spayed or neutered as soon as your veterinarian recommends it, in order to access the health benefits that come with early spay/neutering. We practice the 6 exercises developed by the US Military in the "Super
Dog Program" that were designed and tested to stimulate the neurological
systems of puppies at an early age. Studies show that the benefits of
this include: improved cardio vascular performance, stronger heart
beats, stronger adrenal glands, To read more about it, check out the following link:http://www.breedingbetterdogs.com/achiever.html

Crate Training All of our dogs are crate trained. It gives us great peace of mind to have a safe way to transport our dog, or a safe place to house them at times that we can't have them out and about. Most of them do fight it somewhat initially, but they end up enjoying their "den" and often prefer to be in it. We place a crate in their whelping shed about the 3rd or 4th week. The puppies get used to going in and out of it and sleeping in it. The door is left off. We encourage all of our families/individuals that adopt a puppy to take advantage of this wonderful training/security tool. Sometimes it helps to send the puppies off with a familiar article in the crate, which has the smells of the litter on it. Here are some very good reads about this issue: http://www.cuhumane.org/topics/crate.html
